Second-year Graphic Design major Katelyn Klemm needed advice on preparing a portfolio of work for a job she was interested in applying for and turned to Assistant Professor Steve Kelly, whom she had studied Drawing and 3D design with during the 2025-26 academic year.

Kelly shared, “Katelyn came to me at the end of the spring semester seeking advice on a job offering. I helped her assemble a portfolio and she ended up landing the job! During her summer internship at Schmeeckle Reserve she created some beautiful signs.”

“I applied for a summer position at Schmeeckle Reserve as an artist and came to Assistant Professor Kelly for advice on how to build a portfolio for the application. This led to me successfully landing the job. Over the summer, I worked on a variety of tasks, including custom sign commissions. Without the help with my portfolio, I am unsure if I would have been offered the job. I am thankful that I did as it has helped me grow both as an artist and as a professional.” Stated Katelyn, who has continued on in the position with Schmeeckle Reserve as a work-study student this academic year.

Mark your calendars to join us for a screening of the comedy "Kwik Stop." the tale of a Hollywood-bound actor called Lucky whose shoplifting is discovered by a local girl in a small, Midwestern town.

The screening will be followed by a talkback with the film's director Michael Gilio ("Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves") along with UWSP alum Emily Ruth ('24, Theatre - Acting) who are currently at work on a new feature film starring Emily!

Mark your calendars to attend the sixth annual LIT, the annual event featuring illuminated sculptures, video and interactive displays, flow art and dance performances, and music at the Stevens Point Sculpture park!

“We’re very excited to invite the public to see our beautiful Sculpture Park in a new light,” board chairperson Elizabeth Wellso said. “It’s extremely popular, for good reason. The evening is a fun, family friendly, creative adventure.”

The sculpture park includes work from UWSP alumni, faculty and staff!
