On Monday (5/8/23) SLEA held elections for next year's President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasure, and board members. Congratulations to everyone who got elected! After, Carson Veath talked to the club about duck identification and what goes into hunting ducks such as bag limits, what licenses you need and how to find places to hunt. Thank you to the new club President Carson for talking to us!

On Monday (5/1/23) District Attorney Kyle Mayo from Marathon County came in and talked to the club about some general information about the legal system and how Law enforcement officers are involved in his work life every day. He also stressed the importance of report writing and court day preparation in order to have a successful trial. Thank you to all who attended and DA Kyle Mayo for taking the time out of his day to come talk to us!

On Monday (4/24/23) SLEA members met at the Stevens Point Police Department to meet Officer Ballew and K9 Barry, one of the two K9 units that are at the Department and to ask questions about what it takes to be a K9 handler such as the training required. Members also got a tour of the department including the auxiliary program which is currently hiring new staff! Thank you to everyone who showed up and thank you to the Stevens Point Police Department for giving us this great opportunity!

On Monday (4/17/23) Deputy Tatro from Marathon County came in and talked to the club about crisis management and de-escalation and how important active listening is when talking to someone in distress or trying to gain information. Deputy Tatro is also a negotiator in Marathon county and he walked us through his very first negotiation incident he was assigned as primary negotiator and listened to some 911 calls and watched squad footage of the incident. Thank you to Deputy Tatro for coming in and talking to the club and for everyone who attended tonight!

Last weekend, SLEA members had the opportunity to travel to Peshtigo Wisconsin to assist Wisconsin DNR wardens by doing a River watch in Marinette County for illegally snagged fish and over bagging walleye. Members also had the chance to ride along with wardens to learn more and gain experience about working in the DNR. Thank you to everyone who attended this weekend and the wardens!

On Monday (4/3/23) Honorable Judge Cveykus of Marathon County came in and talked to the club about warrants and why they are necessary in the law enforcement field and when you would need one in cases such as searching residences and cell phones. He gave us a lot of good information about dealing with everyone else involved in law enforcement such as attorneys and judges and we are very thankful that Judge Cveykus took the time out of his day to come talk to us!

On Monday (3/27/23) Special Agent Cannon and Wildlife Officer Schelling of the US Fish and Wildlife Service came in and talked to us about USFWS Law Enforcement and the differences between the two jobs that they have. They also talked about the application process and what they look for when hiring such as prior Federal Law Enforcement experience. Thank you to both for taking the time to come in and talk to us!

On Monday (3/13/23) Sgt. Lewinski and Deputy Gottschalk from the Waupaca County Sheriff's office came and talked to the club about some summer boat patrol opportunities that would be available on major water bodies in Waupaca county including the Wolf River and Waupaca chain of lakes. They discussed the various tasks and skills that someone would need to do various tasks while working for the department. They also provided information on how to apply for next summer. A reminder to club members that walleye run applications in Peshtigo this April are due by tomorrow, March 17th!

On Monday 2/27/23, we had Police Officer Trevor Gatz and Sgt. Robert Schotzko come in and talk to the club about the West Bend Police Department and give some general information about how to apply, what they as a department are looking for, and a couple of various calls to service they have been on in the recent years. Thank you to both Trevor and Sgt. Schotzko for taking the time to come talk to us!

Yesterday, SLEA members had the opportunity to get out fishing on a learn to ice fish event put on by the club. Members were able to jig for panfish after learning how to use a vexilar fish finder and catch Northern Pike on tipups provided by the club as well. Everyone who came out caught fish and had a great time as a group. Thank you to all who attended!
