HRG UCLCC

HRG UCLCC We provide high-quality early care and education at a reasonable cost to UW-Stevens Point students, faculty/staff, alumni, and community members.

Our purpose is to provide quality learning experiences and care for infants,
toddlers, pre-school, and 4K age children. UCLCC's learning environments are
cognitively stimulating, aesthetically pleasing and foster children's emotional,
social, physical and cognitive growth. The center's strong emphasis on family,
community and culture is promoted with developmentally appropriate practices
and

the Reggio Emilia Inspired Aproach. Educational learning goals are based
on the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards; developed through classroom
observation as well as child and program assessments. UCLCC is nationally
accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children
(NAEYC) and rated a 5-star provider by YoungStar, Wisconsin's quality rating
program.

The Playhouse friends did some experimenting this morning! 👩‍🔬 We found out what happens when you mix food coloring, milk, and oil. First we made bubbles of color, then we mixed them and it looked like tie dye!
Then when we were done, we celebrated national creamsicle day. Yum! 😋

How fortunate we are to be on a campus where we can go on so many fun adventures! Today we visited the greenhouse, stopped by to say hi to the turtles and iguana, and ended up in the sundial to draw with chalk and play in the grass. The Bunny Room loves adventures!

We had so much fun exploring and playing! We played with a sticky ball, enjoyed some fresh green beans from our garden, and got creative with chalk. 🎨🌱
Then we went on an exciting dinosaur hunt! 🦖🦕 We searched high and low to see what dinosaurs we could find!

Monday was national watermelon day! 🍉 The Playhouse friends celebrated by doing a watermelon exploration and some watermelon inspired art. We washed our melon and inspected it closer with our magnifying glasses. Then we tried creative ways to open it up, including wood chips, water bottles, even sitting on it! Teacher Becca dropped it on the ground inside a towel to crack it then we worked together to split it open! This was a pretty sweet victory 😋 After a taste test, we played with the leftovers, making things like boats and shark fins.

Today we remember Susie Sprouse! Susie served as the Director of the UCLCC for over 30 years and laid the foundation for what this program has become...a home, a family, a high-quality school for children to flourish. To say Susie was transformational in her role, is an understatement. She has left an ever-lasting legacy on this school that will forever remain. Wishing you the happiest of heavenly 80th birthday Susie! Hope you're getting to put on some of your famous puppet shows up there! Forever in our hearts and with our school family....
