Tickets are free and donations are accepted. This event is co-sponsored by the University of Wisconsin Cleft and Craniofacial Anomalies Program. This team has served as helpful clinical collaborators with the UWSP Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic. Additionally, members of the team have served as guest speakers in the graduate Cleft and Craniofacial Disorders course and at Miles of Smiles meeting.

Congrats to former UWSP staff member Greg Lof on earning the 2026 The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Honors of the Association Award, one of the profession's highest honors! He will be presented the award at the ASHA Convention in November.

The clinic office manager is the initial contact with clients entering the clinic for appointments. The clinic office manager is also responsible for: intake of hearing aids needing repair, managing accounts receivable and payable, weekly deposits, use of the credit card charge system, tracking in and out costs of hearing aid purchase and repairs, scheduling audiology appointments, scheduling speech and language assessments, management of correspondence with current and future clients, use of electronic medical records system, submitting prior authorizations through insurance and managing use of paid parking permits for clients. This position also includes supervising and training graduate assistants who support the day-to-day operations of the clinic office.

Healthy Hearing meets Healthy Heroes.

Associate Professor Rachel Craig and fourth-year audiology student Teresa Krogmann traveled to the Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis last week to screen athletes from across the nation.

Their work was part of an ongoing research project evaluating how healthcare professionals are trained to serve individuals with intellectual disabilities.

"It was an honor to work with the Minnesota clinical directors and the University of Minnesota students."

The trip was funded in part by the UW-Stevens Point College of Professional Studies Faculty Heroes Award that Rachel earned in 2024.

Special Olympics Healthy Hearing provides comprehensive audiology screenings and follow-up recommendations to promote the necessity of regular ear and hearing screenings. Many athletes’ hearing problems are previously undetected, un-served or under-treated. Hearing loss negatively impacts communication ability, quality of life, social interactions and health.
