Hi I’m Anna, a senior studying abroad in London. For the final day of my time here in London, I’m sharing a few final activities you can do in the city!

Photo 1: The Tower of London. A tour of the former castle/prison and the crown jewel exhibit was included in the study abroad program tuition.

Photo 2: Chinatown! Located in central London, Chinatown has over 60 restaurants and is a great place to eat. They also have a handful of grocery stores and bakeries.

Photo 3: The view of the Thames from the London Eye. The viewing platform/ferris wheel attraction has amazing views of the city and landmarks such as Big Ben and Parliament.

Photo 4: Borough Market is a famous food market in London that has been around for hundreds of years. This photo was from a food tour about classic English dishes and the history behind them.

Anna here, and today is the final day of my takeover! Thanks for listening this week and I hope you’ve learned a thing or two about studying abroad here in London. The city has so much to offer, from museums, parks, travel, and more, and I would recommend this program to any student thinking of traveling abroad. Thanks again!

Anna again back from London! Today’s topic is new experiences, and one of my favorite new experiences since coming to London has been traveling. Though I’ve spent some time in Europe before studying abroad, London is the perfect jumping off point for trains, flights, or buses. I’ve also been able to explore a bit more of the UK, including Bath, Stonehenge, and Oxford, which has been a lot of fun and was a goal of mine when I chose the London program.

Photo 1: Me in Edinburgh, Scotland! Myself and a handful of people in my program traveled to Edinburgh for the weekend. We took the train from London, about four hours, and explored the city!

Photo 2: This photo is from another program trip to Stonehenge. This trip was included with the program tuition and AES organized a coach bus as well as a tour guide to take us to the landmark.

Photo 3: The Medival Abbey in Bath, UK. Our trip to Stonehenge also included a trip to Bath, one of the most beautiful and historic towns in the UK. We got to tour this abbey and the Roman baths.

Photo 4: The canals of Amsterdam! Another quick weekend trip, myself and some friends visited Amsterdam. We took a guided canal cruise and visited the Factory of Lights, the Ruks Museum, and the National Holocaust Museum.

Hi again! It’s Anna again, and today we are talking about favorite things to do in London. My favorite thing is the museums, most of which in London are free.

Photo 1: Self Portrait in a Straw Hat, by Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun. I saw this portrait on a visit to the National Gallery, a free art museum. Other popular art museums include the Wallace Collection, the National Portrait Gallery, and the Tate Modern.

Photo 2: An exhibit at the Design Museum. The objects of this exhibit were donated by and voted upon by London residents meant to represent the city. The Design Museum also features exhibits about art, transportation, technology, fashion, and more.

Photo 3: Bird exhibit in the Natural History Museum. The Natural Museum includes exhibits about climate change, dinosaurs, marine life, bugs and insects, mammals, and more. They have an expansive collection of fossils and animal and plant specimens.

Hello it’s Anna again, a senior studying abroad in London! Today I’m sharing new things in London, and one of my favorite parts of London is the green spaces. London is among the cities with the most green spaces in the world. This includes parks, nature reserves, and more.

Photo 1: The Kyoto Garden in Hyde Park. This park has a more wild feel to its walking trails, and also contains more manicured flower gardens and sports fields.

Photo 2: Some geese from my Sustainable Cities class trip to the London Wetlands. We took a guided tour of the wetlands, learned about the maintenance that makes the park possible, and got to see otters, pelicans, cows, and many different types of birds.

Photo 3: A rose from the Queen Victoria Garden in Regents Park. Another Sustainable Cities class trip, Regents Park is also home to extensive walking areas, a paddle friendly lake, cafes, and the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Garden. The park also has rotating art installations during good weather.

Good morning! I’m Anna from UWSP, a senior currently studying abroad in London. Today we are talking about differences between living in Wisconsin and living in London. One big difference has been transportation. While at home I mainly drive, in London I take the bus, the tube, and walk a lot. Join me the rest of the week while I discuss living abroad in London.

Anna again! Today is day 3 of my Instagram takeover and today we are talking about classes. I have 4 classes, 12 credits, while studying in London. My week consists of 3 days of classes and 2 free days. Some classes include field trips and excursions, while others are entirely in the classroom.

Photo 1: For my Sustainable Cities class we visit green spaces throughout London. This photo is from our most recent class visit to the London Wetlands. Other trips include the Olympic Village, Regents Park, and Richmond.

Photo 2: For Travel Writing we mostly stay in the classroom and participate in lectures and discussions, but last week we visited the Portrait Award section of the National Portrait Gallery, a free art museum. Each student selected one portrait, which we then discussed in class.

Photo 3: Some classmates and I at The Orestia, a play that ran earlier in September. We saw this play as a part of our Drama class. Through this course we get to see six shows over the course of the semester.

Photo 4: An exhibit at the Tate Modern art museum. We visited this museum as a part of the British Life and Culture class. Each week we have a lecture and then visit a museum that corresponds to the week’s theme. Other museums we’ve visited include the Imperial War Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, and the British Museum.

Hello! It’s Anna again, back for day 3 of my London takeover. Today’s topic is classes! I take 4 classes at Anglo Educational Services in London. Each class meets once a week for 3 hours and consists of classroom lectures and discussions as well as field trips. Check out more about each class in the video!
