Things got a bit silly at our Full STEAM Ahead camp last week as 4th and 5th graders from the School District of Rhinelander engaged in hands-on projects while learning strategies for building confidence in science and math classes at the C.A.V.O.C.

UWSP preservice teachers Grace Torma, Brenna Steinagel, Brea Spritka, Lucy Walters and Sarah Cobarrubiasn led each session on content designed by university faculty in STEM fields.

Thanks to Jesse Mossholder, Emily Tschudy, Aaron Gierhart, Krista Slemmons, Laura Lee, Jared Schroeder and our partners at Rhinelander for organizing the camp!

Educational program Full STEAM Ahead returned to Rhinelander for its second year, running from Tuesday to Thursday at the COVAC.

Each year, one recipient is awarded $10,000 to support a collaborative research or development project that advances educational practice and enriches the lives of PK-12 students. The 2026 CPS Heroes Award winners are now on display on the first floor of the CPS Building. Congrats again to the Dick Cable and Judy Cable Anderson Student Heroes Award winner Dominnic Fillmore from the UW-Stevens Point School of Education and to the Ethel and Ward Cable Family Faculty Heroes Award winner Deborah Tang from the UW-Stevens Point School of Health Sciences and Wellness!
