Point of the Past Discovering and honoring the people & history of Stevens Point, Wisconsin through its cemeteries. I clean headstones as a volunteer. I would love to do it!

I'm a disabled Stevens Point native who loves local history and photography and I'm looking forward to sharing what I find here. If you have family connections in Stevens Point/Portage County, Wisconsin and would like those stones photographed or cleaned, please message me for details. There is no charge, but donations for supplies are accepted. I also do research on local families and will be sharing some stories here. As a Find a Grave volunteer, I add details and family connections whenever possible. If you'd like to donate to help cover the cost of supplies so I can continue this project on a regular basis, you can donate to me via PayPal or Venmo at , or send a message to the page for a mailing address. From the Desk of a Funeral Director: This your reminder today that yes, you are human. Being you is something to be celebrated and honored. Nothing reminds us of that better than when we experience the loss of a loved one. We are reminded how fragile life is and how special and unique we are as individuals. That is the essence of the human condition…that we are capable of grand love, that we make mistakes, and that we cannot be replaced.

As funeral directors, this is something we experience every day. We are witnesses to everlasting love when we sit with a wife who has just lost her husband. We are guardians of peace when we embrace a son who has lost his mother. We are constantly reminded how human we all are.

So this is your reminder today that YOU are human and we are all getting through this life as best we know how! Let us be gentle, kind, and humble knowing that.

I spent the evening at the cemetery with some young people who were respectful, curious, smart and hard working! We shared some history, learned about cleaning stones, pulled some grass, and had an overall lovely time together. We got a great sunset, but my photo of the day is their artwork on the path.

Though a couple of them were initially hesitant about the cemetery, they all want to come back soon and I can't wait!
