Fort Hays State University’s Kansas Education Center Cheyenne Bottoms Over and Under the Wetlands presentation. School Age and Pre K 4 walked to the gradeschool for this fun interactive event from the Sterling Library!

MONDAY, MAY 18TH

Parents! Please stay weather aware going into this afternoon. We are watching the weather closely and will take necessary precautions if necessary! Please know that Lil Cub has a designated "Safe Room" in both downstairs bathrooms. If a tornado WARNING is issued during business hours we (all kids and staff) will shelter in place and no children will be allowed to leave the building until the "all clear" is given. Parents are welcome to shelter with us as well.

If a tornado WATCH is issued it is up to the parents to decide if they want to pick up their child or not.

We will keep everyone posted on happenings in Procare, and as always, you can get a hold of us by calling the center 620-904-4231

We started with caterpillars… then they cocooned, now we have butterflies!
We absolutely love doing this, and the kids get to see what happens with the process.
Of course the favorite part is letting them go!
Last year we had so many turn around and lay eggs on our flowers, that we got to do the process twice! So hopefully they don’t travel too far and we can do it again in a few months!

So proud of our teachers! Mr. Erik, Miss Sadie, and Miss Addison- all graduates of Sterling college! We were so lucky to have you at our center. Miss Addison will be staying with us. Good luck in all you do Erik and Sadie, you are amazing teachers and we will miss you!

New ruling with our Food Program.

USDA released a final rule that allows whole and reduced-fat (2%) milk to be offered to participants ages two and up in the CACFP, National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), and Special Milk Program (SMP).

This rule does not require CACFP operators to offer whole and reduced-fat milk but allows operators the flexibility to offer these types of milk to participants two and up if it makes sense for their program. The rule will be effective June 8, 2026.
