This last month has flown by. Here some items the students worked on:
-Drywall and misc framing installation at the RF project. The students are finding out how much fun an old house is to drywall.
-Dismantled the Santa display at Northland Mall
-Dismantled and stored the Holiday Lights display
-One class split off, planned and estimated a basement project. Framing starts next week
-Cleared some brush out for access to find the lot pins for the upcoming new house and garage build for a client.
-Shop clean out, rearranging, organizing, dismantle a big portion of the visual aid, paint the exposed walls, get ready to have a space for new cantilevered storage shelf units. This will create a lot more floor space to build future in-shop projects coming up

Students, look for an email tomorrow for the E-learning assignment! Going to be brutally cold out, so stay warm!

Due to the extreme cold temperatures for Friday, Jan. 23rd, WACC will institute an E-Learning Day! Students are to check their email, google classroom, or classroom website for any lessons or instructions from their instructors.

There are still tree’s available! Last minute Christmas gifts at $20 each! If you would like to pick one up, go out to Northland Mall, Sterling. Thank you to The 9th Hole Mini Golf & More, the trees are in the front of their establishment

Our student’s have been busy off and on making 2x4 trees for a shirt fundraiser. The trees made so far will be available out at Northland Mall this Saturday during the event going on from 10-5, and until they sell out until 9pm. If you can’t make it to the mall, there might be time to order one with your choice of color, to be made during next week. The 2 basic tree designs are $20 each. If they sell enough of these they can get a free shirt for every student. It worked out well last year, and hopefully again this year. Last year’s shirt was maroon, this year’s a gray color. Both with the Building Trades logo on the front and back.

11/26/2025

We thank Northland Mall for a different project to get involved in. The students were told that in the construction trades, you never know what kinds of projects you will be asked to work on. This was a great example away from the normal day to day remodeling/new home projects. Mr Wolfley’s WACC 2 Criminal Justice classes were also involved in finishing up the decorating. Many hands make light work and get it done in a timely manner.

We would like to thank Mr. Hick's WACC classes for constructing and decorating our Santa set up. Thank you so much!! Happy Holidays everyone!

11/22/2025

The last couple of weeks have been busy for the students. Concrete flatwork prep, pour, and finish the driveway, front sidewalk, and back patio. Moved the trebuchet to onsite storage from the pumpkin smashing area at Sauk Valley Community College. Put together the Holiday Light Display props, and fixed the lights in the arches so they all work, delivered majority of it to Centennial Park to set it up at the beginning of this coming week. Lastly the students set up the majority of the Santa house, a place where Santa sits and takes pictures with the children, inside Northland Mall. Finishing up early this coming week.

Check out these before and almost after pics! Students are working on wrapping up the outside, with exception to the roof, before colder/snowy weather makes it harder to finish some things on the ground.

Progress is being made at the Rock Falls house remodel project. Ready for concrete pouring the end of this week while the weather is still halfway decent.
