My son did a Hittrax camp and has been seeing Jeff for private hitting lessons. Jeff helped him find the right bat and has improved his swing. The trajectory of where he hits the balls was a big problem for him. My son has seen different trainers over the past several years and my son says that Pinkman Academy has really helped him the most.

The Pinkman Academy is a home for baseball and softball players who demand results. We offer year round private and group baseball and softball instruction.

Let’s talk about how to LOAD 💣 and EXPLODE 💥

This reel describes the importance of building explosive and rotational power for baseball and softball players. This means that athletes need to engage the right parts of the body, at the right times (AKA the #kineticchain) to achieve maximum power and efficiency in their swings.

I love to challenge students with explosion, balance, and resistance work to make them aware of the foundational body movements (push, pull, squat, hinge, rotation, and loaded carry).

Some favorites:

🧘🏼‍♀️ Modified BOSU Jump Turns - These can be done with either one or two @bosu_fitness balls. In the video, you’ll see the boys twisting into the load, then driving from the back side to land and balance on the second ball. You can also do this from ball to floor, or from floor to ball. Be sure to train both sides.

📦 Lateral Box Jump w/ Rotation - I progress students this way: 1. Twist and jump with no props; 2. Twist and jump with @baseballrebellion Rebel’s Rack; 3. Twist and jump with med ball. Force them into the legs, hips, and core by removing the ability to lead with their head!

🚀 More On Box Jumps - On that note, you’ll also observe Calvin doing a good old fashioned box jump, with the added factor of having to jump down (soft land, decelerate, hard explode up and forward) to lead into his jump onto the higher box. This works especially well for him, as he is both a hitting and catching student.

🏋🏻‍♀️ BOSU Squat - This also doubles as a great torture tactic. :) Start from the floor to familiarize with squat form, then move to the BOSU at body weight. Add a med ball or dumbbell for a goblet squat if extra challenge is warranted.

🪄PVC Pipe - The pipe is good for so many things. In this video, you’ll see me working with Camden to isolate internal hip rotation by cementing his feet, and also limiting his shoulder movement with the PVC. You can progress this by both releasing the feet and allowing the upper half to whip through and point above the pitcher’s head, but only when the hips have been first to engage. This is also fun to do with @tidaltanktraining Tidal Tanks! 🌊
