Sterling Elementary School Welcome to Sterling Elementary School, a Kenai Peninsula Borough School District school, and home of the Falcons!

Sterling Elementary serves approximately 140 students in grades PreK-6 from the Sterling community and surrounding areas. Students at Sterling Elementary participate in regular physical education and music classes. Other curricular and co-curricular activities include art, Artist-in-Residence programs, computer classes, forensics, gifted & talented services, Battle of the Books and a community jud

o club. Other activities are added as needed based on student & community interest. We welcome visits to our school by prospective students and their parents. Sterling Elementary is proud to have been recognized multiple times by the State Department of Education for outstanding increased and sustained student performance through the State of Alaska’s Performance Incentive Program and the Title I Distinguished Schools Program. Students at Sterling Elementary are served through a variety of academic remediation and enrichment programs designed to target the individual needs of each student and to complement the instruction that occurs in our multi-grade classrooms. After expanding our special education program to meet a broader spectrum of student needs, Sterling was subsequently recognized by the Governor’s Council for Individuals with Disabilities as the recipient of the Inclusive Practices Award. Mrs. Pioch from KPBSD Indigenous Education taught a fun lesson to Mrs. Kvamme’s 3rd grade ELA class today! Students learned how some Alaska Native cultures used animal intestines to make waterproof clothing. It was the perfect way to end the unit on Native American Cultures. Thank you, Mrs. Pioch!

Sterling Elementary PTO is proud to host our final event — the Sterling Community Color Run on May 9th at 11AM! This one is for every kid who's walked those halls, every family who's called Sterling Elementary home, and every neighbor who's shown up for us when it mattered.
Start near Bings Landing, finish at Izaak Walton — covered in color and surrounded by the people who made this school great. Booth setup at 10:30!
