Whether you’re returning for your next level or getting ready to walk into a SEMCA classroom for the first time, now is the time to get prepared.

A few things to check off before classes begin:

✓ Double-check your schedule — Know your class days, times and campus location.

✓ Get your gear together — Have your textbook, something to write with, required PPE and any other class materials ready to go.

✓ Know your route — Plan for traffic, construction and enough time to arrive before class starts.

✓ Be ready to connect — Get to know your instructor, classmates and the best way to stay informed throughout the semester.

Our Vice President Deanna and Director of Education Marissa presented at Central Michigan University’s Center for Charter Schools Annual Conference yesterday, sharing the importance of including construction and the skilled trades in career planning for students.

With strong demand for skilled professionals and countless pathways to rewarding careers, introducing students to construction opportunities early can help them see that success after high school comes in many forms.

SEMCA students, it’s almost time to get back to the classroom! 🛠️📚

As you start thinking about back-to-school time and the upcoming semester, a little preparation can go a long way. Here are 5 tips to start the semester strong:

✓ Check your schedule and know what days, times and SEMCA location your class meets.

✓ Come prepared for class with your textbook, something to write with, laptop if needed and all required PPE.

✓ Plan ahead for your commute. Give yourself extra time for rush-hour traffic, weather and construction.

✓ Get to know your instructor and the best way to communicate with them throughout the semester.

✓ Show up ready to learn. Ask questions, stay engaged and make the most of your time in the classroom and lab.
