Here's a shot of transferring some nodes into some rooting media! 🌱

Once enough root mass has formed she'll be taken out of culture and into acclimation!🧫

Acclimation is simply the process of 'priming' the new plantlet to go from her old environment in-vitro, to her new environment in the grow room, or ex-vitro!

This process evolves gradually matching the set conditions she'll be flourishing in soon ⏳️

This stage can take 1-2 weeks, depending on the health of the plantlet coming out of culture.📆

We're transferring some meristems that we're isolated from our last class into some fresh media 🧫

Along with transferring some nodal segments to continue their shoot proliferation 🌱 (fancy way of saying shoot growth 🤓)

In due time, these nodes and meristems will be out of culture and producing in the garden how they should be💪

Let's talk for a second about sodium hypochlorite, or it's diluted cousin, bleach!🧼

Bleach is one part used for surface sterilization to prep the exterior of the explant your Initiating to ward off unwanted organisms from contamination 🦠

Well we use it all the time, but do you know exactly how bleach works it's magic?🪄

Bleach rapidly dissociates (or breaks down) to form the highly reactive, hypochlorous acid 🧬

Once formed, hypochlorus acid will attack the amino acids that make up proteins 🥩

By doing this, the bleach alters the three-dimensional structure of the proteins

But why is this important? 🤔

A protein's structure is critical to its function, and when important proteins lose their shape cells can no longer survive 🪦

I.e. a lower susceptibility to contamination in culture! 🎉
