The Tarleton State University Department of Counseling offers a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree includes academic coursework that satisfies the academic course requirements for a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential in Texas. Students with a teaching certificate and two years teaching experience have the option

to take coursework that gives them eligibility for the TExES school counseling certification test in order to become a Professional School Counselor. The Counseling faculty genuinely care for students by offering classes in the evenings, on weekends, online, and hybrid to meet the busy demands of a career and family. The 60 hour Clinical Mental Health Counseling program provides the academic training for counselors to work in a variety of positions in mental health agencies, such as counseling centers, drug and substance abuse centers, career counseling centers, mental health programs, Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) in business and industry, adult probation offices, MHMR agencies, corrections, and private counseling practices.
