🎖️ALUMNI FEATURE | 1LT JOHN McGUIRE ’24

From the Texan Corps of Cadets to active-duty service, 1LT John McGuire ’24 continues to lead the way.

McGuire graduated from Tarleton State University in 2024 as an Army ROTC ADO cadet and commissioned into the Adjutant General’s (AG) Branch on active duty.

Now serving as the Strength Manager for 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, McGuire recently planned and executed the largest Danish Flyver Ruck in the world, bringing together an incredible level of participation.

His leadership, initiative, and commitment to service are a reflection of the values instilled in the Texan Corps of Cadets.

LEADING BEYOND THE CORPS

Our Corps of Cadets members are making an impact across campus through the Student Government Association (SGA). From representing their fellow students to serving in leadership roles, these cadets continue to demonstrate what it means to lead, serve, and represent the Texan Corps.

We are also proud to recognize two prospective FRC members, Cadet Kailey Russell and Cadet Camila Zepeda, as they take the next steps toward serving the Tarleton community.

The Texan Corps of Cadets is growing stronger this fall with a record 220 cadets, including 103 first-year cadets!

⭐ CADET SPOTLIGHT: CADET GRAHAM ⭐

As a sophomore cadet, Cadet Xander Graham has already made a strong impact on the Texan Corps of Cadets through his dedication, involvement, and commitment to military service.

Since arriving at Tarleton State University, Graham has remained actively involved in the Corps while pursuing opportunities to grow as a leader. He is a member of three special teams, Bataan Team, Wainwright Rifles, and Grill Team, where he continues to develop discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Beyond the Corps, Cadet Graham is also a member of the Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) program. This past summer, he took another step toward his goal of becoming a Marine Corps officer by attending Officer Candidates School (OCS)

From his involvement across the Corps to his commitment to developing as a future officer, Cadet Graham continues to set an example of what it means to take advantage of every opportunity to grow and serve.

Keep up the great work, Cadet Graham!

Cadets took on the first march of the year for the Chancellor’s Cup, joined by LTC Lee Evans, former Deputy Commandant of the Texan Corps of Cadets, who shared inspirational words on leadership and service to hype up our Texans for the game.
