Its solo & ensemble time! I have the details below…

All participants (except jazz ensemble) should plan to arrive at the end of the lunch break (see below) and set up an area in the cafeteria. Remember – the band hall is off limits as it’s a performance area.
Jazz ensemble should plan to arrive by 10:45 – warm up together and be ready to walk into the band hall 15 min early.

BEFORE THE CONTEST
• Is your part numbered?
• Is your score numbered?
o If you’re only doing a couple movements of your event, get a paperclip and put it on the movements you’re performing.
• On Friday – take your instrument home! The band hall will not be available on the day of the contest to get into and grab your horn.
DAY OF THE CONTEST
• Attire should be Sunday best (look professional!)
• Do you have extra reeds, valve oil etc.
• Are you wearing your Sunday attire?
• Did you warm up & tune carefully?
• Get to your room a little early to check in.
• Don’t forget to breathe!
• You will want to double check your pitch with the piano when you go into the room (soloists).
• Introduce yourself, the accompanist (if you have one) and introduce the piece you’re playing – title, which movements, and the composer.
• The judge may give you some feedback if the schedule allows. Be professional when listening to the comments. They are there to help you!
• As you leave, thank the judge for listening to you today.
