Some of our OTD faculty and students had the opportunity to receive hands on training with our newest equipment, the MiraColt by Chariot Innovations Inc

The MiraColt is an innovative therapeutic device designed to simulate the movement of horseback riding, providing opportunities to work on balance, posture, coordination, and core stability! It can be a valuable tool in occupational therapy to support functional movement and participation in meaningful activities.

We’re excited to continue expanding our knowledge and exploring new tools to support occupational therapy practice in our rural communities! 🐎

This morning, Cohort 1, Class of 2027, tried their hand at leatherworking! Students explored how meaningful crafts like these can be used as occupation-based interventions. 🫶🏼🤎

As Mary Reilly said,
“Man, through the use of his hands, as they are energized by mind and will, can influence the state of his own health.”
A reminder that in OT, our hands can be powerful tools for health, purpose, and participation.

Happy Hill Day!
Wait…what is AOTA Hill Day?
AOTA Hill Day is an annual opportunity for occupational therapy students, practitioners, educators, and supporters to promote for the OT profession and the people we serve! Each year, we come together on Capitol Hill and from across the country to connect with policymakers and share how occupational therapy makes a difference in the lives of individuals and communities.
From fighting for access to OT services to supporting policies that impact our profession and the clients we serve, every voice has an opportunity to make an impact! 🏛️🗣️

Literacy looks different in every occupation. For our OTD students, it means learning, researching, and documenting. In healthcare, health literacy helps providers communicate effectively and empowers clients to understand their health, make informed decisions, and participate in daily occupations!

Happy International Literacy Day!
