Hey everyone:) I hope you have all had a beautiful Sunday, and got to take advantage of the tax free weekend to buy school clothes and supplies for your kiddos! If you forgot about it, definitely try to fit it in. If there is one thing that most kids love...it's brand new supplies!

And of course...since quite a few kids are beginning school online this year, it's always a good idea to make a special place at your home for each of your children to use as their workspace. In my opinion, getting your kids organized is one of the best things you can do to help them maintain a level of focus and excitement about their education, regardless of whether they are going back to school physically, or learning virtually.

Having a good sturdy desk or table is an essential. It's also wise to have a pencil/pen holder or cup available. This way, they'll lose far fewer pencils while they are working! You can also use a pencil cup for colored pencils, and a smaller version for crayons. Since many people are on a tight budget, try making your own. (These can be made from empty 2 liter bottles of soda. Simply rinse them out, cut to fit the size of the items you will be filling them with, add marbles to the bottom to keep them grounded, and voila! You're ready to add pencils, pen, etc..) In addition, plastic compartment trays are a great place to keep rulers, rubber bands, erasers, paperclips, and anything else they might need. Each item can have it's own space:)

Since so many of my students' teachers require them to keep spirals full of notes, you might want to think about getting some inexpensive shelves or plastic cubbies to keep each subject in. This way, they'll be able to keep track of each particular subject, and the paperwork that goes along with them.

I don't know what challenges your kids may be facing, but many of my kiddos have difficulty focusing and staying on track. So, I have them keep a schedule of what they need to accomplish each day. It can be as easy or complicated as you want to make it. These schedules allow for relaxation and brain breaks, and help keep them motivated to learn.

I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas of things you do to help keep your kids organized and moving forward! Kudos to each of you for investing in your kids!
Blessings:)

Happy Saturday, everyone! I hope you guys are having a great start to your weekend:)

With school right around the corner...just a quick reminder to have your kids/grandkids read every day. I think quite a few kiddos have had way too much summer vacation this year! It's so easy to get lost in the day to day doldrums, especially when we're having to stay inside more often. However, I have noticed that quite a few of my tutoring kiddos have regressed in their reading/vocabulary.

If your kids aren't big fans of books, why not try online reading? There are some really great free reading websites that you can check out! One of these is ixl.com. They have a free version or a paid version that you can use, depending on how much you want to invest. I love this site mainly because the content covered under each grade level, Pre-K-12th, goes along with the Common Core Curriculum.

I actually put one of my students on ixl.com this summer, and she has advanced almost three grade levels in the course of a few months! For the first time since she started tutoring with me, she doesn't complain about reading! In fact, she absolutely loves to read now:) This makes me extremely happy:) Check it out! You might be pleasantly surprised:)

And...don't forget to let your kiddos see you reading, as well. This will make a huge impact on how they view education. Happy reading to you and your children!
Blessings:)

THE COUNTDOWN IS ON!!!

With school just on the horizon, my tutoring kiddos are getting psyched to go back, even though a majority of them will be starting back virtually, and that's ok:)

In addition to buying school supplies and super cute, new school clothes, please remember to tell your kids how awesome they are! Children, as well as teens, need to know that they CAN accomplish so much more than they ever dreamed of. It all begins with a positive attitude. They need to realize that, even though they many not excel at everything, each one of them has their own unique gifts and talents, that the world is just waiting to see!

Let them dream BIG, and encourage them daily. Let's make this their best school year ever!
Blessings:)

Hi everyone:)
Welcome to my Tutoring 4 Their Success business page! I'm so glad you stopped by!

Tutoring 4 Their Success is a business that I founded almost 13 years ago, after deciding to leave full time classroom teaching. It was an extremely difficult decision to make, but I soon found that one-on-one tutoring is so much more rewarding:)

It is my intention to help as many kiddos as possible become avid learners. I want my tutoring students to not only learn, but to love every minute of it! After all, we never stop learning. So, we might as well enjoy it:)

I will try to be diligent in posting ideas for you, as parents and caregivers, as well as sharing some fun online reading and math websites and games that your kids may like.

In the meantime, if you have any special suggestions or questions you would like help with, please email me, and I will get back with you as soon as possible. I know that this online learning has had its challenges. I see this frequently with the kids I'm working with, whether they are in elementary, jr. high, or high school.

I look forward to hearing what questions you have, and to see how best I can serve you in the days ahead. Stay safe, and please continue to encourage your kiddos!
Blessings:)
