I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the East Newton School Board.
My husband, Michael Cullers was born and raised in the East Newton School District. I grew up in the larger cities of San Antonio and Houston, Texas, then residing in SW, Missouri. I understand the importance of raising our kids in a smaller community: our community.
Michael and I have four beautiful children with a family motto, “Work Hard & Be Kind.” We live by this while loving Jesus and pushing our children to be the best versions of themselves possible. Our oldest daughter graduated East Newton High School, obtained a 2-year degree from Crowder College, and is now acquiring her master's at the University of Mobile in Alabama. Two of our daughters attend East Newton High School - junior and freshmen and our youngest son is in 6th grade at Triway Elementary.
Sixteen years ago, our first child entered the district. Throughout those years, we helped support our children by demonstrating the importance of learning at home, discussing school events and situations, attending functions, and volunteering in classrooms, sports, district programs, and events. Academically and athletically, our children have put in the hard work and experienced struggles, failures, and successes. Learning the importance of a hard-earned “C” rather than an easy “A.”
Our (yours and mine) children are a priority. Ensuring they have access to the resources and support needed to succeed for themselves and the future of our community.
For the past 26 years, I have worked in the financial credit union industry; our philosophy is "people helping people.” These shared values have given me the ability to make timely, future-focused decisions and a strong passion for serving while enriching the lives of our community. Through my current employer, church outreach, and personal goals, we have created/assisted with community events; currently residing as a board member of Family Access Care, organized the collection of funds and perishables for a local food bank and clothing drives for the homeless, and outreach for other nonprofit programs.
What does all this mean for you?
Board priorities are to provide direction and oversight for the professionals who manage the school's day-to-day operations. To voice for the student, parent, and community while ensuring taxpayers get the most for their tax dollars. My goal is not to bring perspective to endure but to THRIVE. I have a solid objective to add value, support, and serve using my financial background and resources for grant funding and proper disbursal of funds.
