Horse training is simpler if you are a good puzzle solver. In the Parelli Levels home study Horse/People training system its all about becoming a great puzzle solver using the 7 Games as a diagnostic/communication tool. Game #1 the Friendly Game aka the Confidence game is often easily overlooked. If the horse is standing there and isn't trying to run away then it must be time for Game #2 (yielding to steady pressure) right? Then when you go for Game #2 the Porcupine game, you find the horse is dull and not very light..of course you go through your phases but it sure isn't light or have a "willing" or "light" feel about it... then you proceed to Game #3 and the horse could be over reactive and bolts away or doesn't respond at all as if frozen! These are all signs of Game #1 not being won/conquered. In this 17 min video of Apollo you will see flighty, resistance and the appearance of being stubborn but don't let those observations lead you down a misguided training plan. There is a Game #1 gaping hole and I have to find it, build trust in it to solve his trust issues to truly get him ready to be easy for the Farrier. The Farrier is new to him and Apollo has never been trimmed by a Farrier without sedation.. See if when you are watching you figure out exactly where the hole in Game #1 is. Thanks for watching and I hope it is useful to you.
