ποΈ THIS IS SO MUCH MORE THAN A FOOTBALL FIELD.
And there is one very important fact we want our community to understand:
The Steelton-Highspire School District is NOT funding this construction project β in any fashion.
The *Roller Nation Foundation (see statement at end of post please) operates independently of the Steelton-Highspire School District. Think of the Foundation much like an independent community support: it is not funded by the District, but works to support our students, families, programs, and community when needs arise.
The *Roller Nation Foundation, Roller Nation Foundation Board and Ambassadors, with the tremendous support and dedication of Coach Andrew Erby Sr., are working every possible avenue to make the Steelton-Highspire Community Transformation & Stadium Revitalization Project a reality.
That means grassroots fundraising.
Individual donations.
Corporate sponsorships.
Private foundations.
State and federal grants.
Community partnerships.
And countless conversations happening behind the scenes every single day.
No school district dollars are being used to build this project.
Even more importantly, the Foundation is committed to responsible growth. Every portion of the project will be competitively bid to obtain the best possible cost, and construction will move forward only when the necessary funds are in hand.
There will be no bridge loans, no gap financing, and no placing this financial responsibility on the School District.
We raise the money. We secure the funding. We pay for each phase β or we wait until the funding is available.
π BUT WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE BUILDING?
Yes, this multi-phase project includes the construction of a much-needed new athletic complex and stadium.
Our current field is unplayable, leaving our students and community without an adequate home facility. A new stadium will provide a safe, modern home for athletics, youth programs, recreation, community events, a walking track, physical fitness opportunities, and so much more.
But if you believe this project is only about sports, you are missing the much bigger picture.
The vision includes a year-round Community Education, Career, Health & Wellness Hub designed to serve Steelton, Highspire, our students, our families, and surrounding communities.
Plans and possibilities include:
β’ Early childhood programming
β’ Workforce development and career opportunities
β’ Classrooms available for District and community use
β’ Health and wellness programming
β’ Potential physical therapy services
β’ Fitness and recreation opportunities
β’ A safe community walking track
β’ Space for community organizations and programming
β’ A much-needed food pantry serving residents in an area considered a food desert
β’ Youth programming and safe spaces for children
β’ Community events and gathering spaces
β’ Resources that strengthen students, families, and the entire community
And that is only the beginning.
For generations, this property has represented pride, tradition, competition, and community. The goal is not simply to replace a field.
The goal is to transform a space into something that serves people from early childhood through adulthood β 365 days a year.
Roller Nation has always been about more than athletics.
The *Roller Nation Foundation grew from a belief that bringing people together through sports could become something even greater: a movement centered on opportunity, access, connection, growth, and giving back.
Its mission is to help ensure that students, athletes, families, and community members have access to safe spaces, meaningful programs, and opportunities to thrive.
ποΈ Yes, we are bringing our stadium home.
π But we are also creating opportunities to learn.
πΌ Opportunities to build careers.
π₯« Opportunities to address food insecurity.
β€οΈ Opportunities for health and wellness.
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Opportunities for families to connect.
ποΈ And opportunities to strengthen an entire community.
This is bigger than football.
This is about restoring access. Rebuilding pride. Creating opportunity. And investing in generations yet to come.
If you are an individual, business, corporation, foundation, community organization, or potential partner who believes in what we are building, we invite you to learn more and become part of it.
