The Steelton-Highspire School District proudly extends its sincere congratulations to Mr. Dean Porr on his retirement after 15 years of dedicated service in our Facilities Department.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Porr's technical expertise, dependable support, willingness to lend a helping hand, and trademark sense of humor have made a lasting and meaningful impact on our school community.

Mr. Porr will be greatly missed, and we thank him for his many contributions while wishing him health, happiness, and enjoyment in his well-deserved retirement.

PA’s Solar for Schools Program is transforming how Pennsylvania’s schools power their classrooms. With $25 million included in the 2026–27 budget, this initiative is helping districts cut energy costs, lower emissions, and reinvest savings into students.

Steelton-Highspire School District is a great example: with a $446,363 grant, they built a 1.7 MW solar array that now provides 100% of the district’s electricity needs, saving $3.6 million over 20 years.

Please be advised that Bus 36 will not be making its regular afternoon run today.

Students who normally ride Bus 36 will be transported home by Bus 35 after it completes its regular route. Bus 35 will then return to pick up and transport Bus 36 riders.

The bus company estimates that Bus 36 students will be dropped off approximately 20 to 25 minutes later than usual.
