Research Methods Specialist/Questionnaire Programmer

Susquehanna Polling and Research, a full-service survey research and polling firm is seeking to fill this position at the main offices of our company located at 10 N. Progress Avenue in Susquehanna Township, Harrisburg Pa.

Primary responsibilities include: programming of survey questionnaires with third party, proprietary software used by in-house research team to collect and analyze telephone and web-based survey data. This involves writing and programming of survey questions using various software programs and applications. They include: 1) WinCATI (computer-assisted telephone interviewing), a product of Sawtooth Technologies; 2) Survey System, an online/web-based survey module and product of Creative Research Systems, and 3) SmartQ, an automated/IVR (Interactive Voice Response) survey program, a product of Telesage, Inc. In addition, use of WinCross, a statistical analysis program to compile frequency tables and cross-tabulation reports is necessary. Also, the ability to use IBM SPSS is required to perform various statistical tests and higher level data analysis (e.g., single/multiple regression studies, Independent Sample Means Test, Chi Square, etc.).

Secondary duties include: weekly supervision of interviewing team, periodic updates of software applications and management of IT systems, and other shared administrative duties and responsibilities with other team members in a small business/teamwork-focused atmosphere.

Qualifications/Experience:

• 2 or 4-year undergraduate degree in computer information systems or software applications
• Familiarity with statistical analysis programs (SPSS, etc.)
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Access skills including experience with data entry, editing and coding and ability to use shortcut functions (VLOOKUP, etc.)
• Experience with basic HTML coding is preferred
• Excellent critical and logic-based thinking skills, as well as attention to detail
