Michelle Hamilton, School Counselor at Steeleville High School has received an EECA Student Support Grants.
Michelle will use her $500 grant to provide students with water bottles and support Lunch Bunch outings throughout the school year.
She says water bottles may seem like a small thing, but they make a big difference in a student's confidence. Many students bring them to class, and students who don’t have one can feel like they’re missing out or don’t fit in.
The Lunch Bunch outings give Michelle a chance to spend time with students in a small group, grab lunch outside the cafeteria, and catch up with them. She says having dedicated time with a caring adult to talk about their day and what’s going on in their lives means a lot to these students.
Michelle says the most-needed items at SHS are:
• Owala water bottles
• Socks of all sizes, both short and crew
• Laundry detergent
• Gift cards to Steeleville Marketplace
Monetary donations would also allow Michelle to purchase these items as needed throughout the school year. Donations can be made to Steeleville High School – Angel Fund and sent to:
