The Washington County Sheriff’s Office held a Stop the Bleed training class at the Sheriff’s Office on January 30th for any law enforcement agencies in the county that wanted to attend. The Stop the Bleed course was taught by Washington County Paramedic Carl Adams.

All Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies will now be carrying a CAT Tourniquet on their person while working to aid with any life threatening blood loss that requires immediate lifesaving treatment. Sheriff’s Deputies may be the first on scene and it’s important to me that we have the first aid equipment needed to help save a life and respond when emergencies may occur in our community.

The second Stop the Bleed class will be held on February 1st, at 7pm at the Sheriff’s Office for night shift officers to attend. The Sheriff’s Office will have annual training on Stop the Bleed to remain proficient in the use of Tourniquet application, packing and dressing of wounds.
