This week in JAG, we had a very busy and exciting week with three amazing guest speakers joining us!

A big thank you to Med Center Health, Somerset Community College, and the Marine Recruiters for taking the time to come in, engage with our JAG students, and share valuable information about opportunities and career pathways.

One of the things we focus on in JAG is employer engagement and helping students explore careers, discover their interests, and find a career pathway that is right for them.

We are grateful for the community partners who invest their time and knowledge in our students. Your support helps our JAG students see what is possible for their future! 💙

We want to recognize and celebrate our Jag students from this week and last week! 🎉
Our students had the opportunity to hear from guest speaker Daron Roberts from American Woodmark, a company that recently merged with MasterBrand. American Woodmark is a global leader in cabinet manufacturing, with top customers including Lowe’s and The Home Depot. Thank you, Daron, for sharing your knowledge, experience, and career insights with our students!

Our students also rolled up their sleeves and gave back to our school community through service projects, helping clean up our athletic facilities and school grounds. 💪🌱

We are proud of our students for demonstrating teamwork, responsibility, valuable learning skills, and a commitment to giving back to their community.

Today in JAG class, students covered Competency E26: Understanding what it means to be a good team member. We began with a class discussion focused on the characteristics of an effective team member, as well as behaviors and characteristics that can negatively impact teamwork.
Students then participated in a team-building icebreaker in groups of four. Using a rubber band with four pieces of string attached, students worked together to stack cups. To increase the challenge, students were required to use only their non-dominant hand during the activity.

After completing the activity, we discussed the skills students used to successfully complete the challenge. Students identified several important teamwork skills, including communication, active listening, cooperation, and critical thinking. The activity provided students with an opportunity to practice these skills while working together toward a common goal

Please share! Last year MCHS leapfrogged over 153 High School’s in the state moving up in the ranking 75 high schools in a single year and earned the title of a “High Performing School” in the state. This year, we’re pushing to leapfrog even more in our efforts to ! Student attendance is vital this week and next to help us make that happen. A special thank you to all our families, staff members and community organization who support all we do at MCHS. We’re working hard to make you proud!
