Here is a small snippet of one of the final activities our students participated in for their creative writing class: a field trip to Steamboat Art Museum to write poetry. Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory has always opened its doors to us in their extra-curricular activities, and I am convinced that the multi-disciplinary aspect of the RMSHP experience adds infinitely to its value. Here as students wandered the museum looking for a piece of visual art to inspire a story or poem, one of RMSC instructors tried out the Steinway in the museum, making the field trip into such a beautiful experience.
Rocky Mountain Springs Harp Program
The Program is intended primarily for students in secondary, college, conservatory or postgraduate education.
The Rocky Mountain Springs Harp Program strives to supplement the education of young harpists through intensive summer programs which treat each harpist as a whole person, with teachers who act as mentors and friends. Training in harp technique, musicianship and performance is enhanced by program elements designed to improve mental attitudes and abilities, physical health and conditioning, aesthet

A snapshot of the road back home from Rocky Mountain Springs 2022… it was a successful summer filled with many musical moments. Another season of celebrating the harpist as a whole person, musicians as athletes, and the persistent pursuit of perfection in an inspiring setting and supportive environment.
Here is the first of several posts I’ll make (in reverse chronological order) to try to share some of this summer’s experiences. It was a busy program! Each morning we completed stretching exercises and inspirational speech, our student took part in sight singing, harp-based music theory, private lessons and chamber music, and each week included frequent hikes and physical conditioning. Evenings we enjoyed concerts at the Strings Music Festival and Steamboat Symphony Summer Concert Series, and at the camp end we gave our own performances.
We at Rocky Mountain Springs harp program are grateful to our sister program Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory for their collaboration and leadership. I’m privileged to be a part of such a unique program, and I hope it always continues, jewel that it is, for the education of the harpist as the whole person: mind, body and soul. Happy summer, everyone! See you next year!

Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory As we anticipate a summer without you, our sense of loss is profound. Our desire is to connect with our students in ways they find valuable. Rocky Mountain Springs Harp Program's summer session in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, is POSTPONED until late June and early July of 2021. Meanwhile, we explore how we might be useful to harp students this summer. Your suggestions would be welcome. Put ideas in a message on this page, or send them by any other means to Rachel Browne Cassapia, Kathryn Harms, Carly Nelson (our harp instructors), or John Bernard, operations manager.
Still accepting applications :)
I've been thinking about a money-saving strategy for undecided potential students. RMS Harp Program has no fees for registration, no application charges. It does have an "Early Bird" discount for both the two-week and four-week sessions. The deadline is March 16, next Monday. So here's the strategy: Start an application (at rmsHarp.org). If you decide to go, you'll save hundreds of dollars. If you decide not to attend, it costs you nothing.
If you are a procrastinator, like me, it costs you a bit more. The scholarship deadline is April 13, and the final application deadline is April 27. Beyond that date, we may accept students if space is available, and the teachers agree.
