Colorado State University Extension, Routt County 4-H 4-H began a century ago as an educational program for the nation's rural youth. CSU retains discretion to allow or disallow comments and/or posts on this page.

Today, 4-H meets the needs of and engages young people in positive youth development experiences. These experiences are based on the idea that young people should be regarded as resources to be developed. 2010 marks the state centennial of 4-H in Colorado and a renewed commitment to helping shape youth and communities. In looking to the next century, 4-H further develops its programs and continues its motto of "Making the Best Better." Looking for fun, friends, and hands-on learning? You’re invited to the Routt County 4-H Open House, from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, October 2. It’s at the Routt County Community Room, at 613 Oak Street in Steamboat Springs.

Meet local 4-H leaders and volunteers, explore exciting project opportunities, enjoy hands-on activities, visit the petting zoo, and show off your creativity with cupcake decorating. Plus, cast your vote in the crowd-favorite Chili Cook-Off!

Did you know 4-H is the largest youth development organization in the United States? And 4-H is much more than agriculture. Whether you're interested in robotics, cooking, veterinary science, shooting sports, photography, outdoor adventures, leadership, or livestock, there's truly something for everyone.

Come discover how 4-H helps young people learn new skills, build confidence, make friends, and find their spark. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome. We hope to see you at the Routt County 4-H Open House on Oct. 2.
