Serving early learners, Stayton Elementary was originally constructed in the 1950s and currently serves 345 students in grades PreK–3rd grade. Our schools have supported generations of students—places where children discover their strengths, where teachers guide and inspire, and where our community gathers to celebrate growth, learning, and future possibilities.

Recent facility assessments have provided a clear, data-informed picture of the condition of our schools and the challenges they face. We are committed to taking care of our facilities for the generations to come.

Today is National School Parent Group Day! You may know them as the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) or PTO (Parent Teacher Organization), but we know them as school champions! We’re so grateful for these incredible volunteers that pull together for more opportunities for our students, celebrations for our staff, and unique traditions that make our schools so special. Behind every clean hallway, warm classroom, and safe playground is a hardworking facilities crew dedicated to our district!

On top of major construction and repairs, our facilities team handled deep cleaning, floor polishing, landscaping, and endless prep work to ensure our schools are ready for learning every single day.

Preparing our schools for the new school year means making sure classrooms are warm, dry, safe, and comfortable for our students.

Check out these essential safety and maintenance updates completed over the summer:

- Fresh Carpets: Replaced carpets in classrooms at Stayton High, Stayton Intermediate, and Stayton Elementary to set a fresh stage for learning. The team tries to replace at least three classroom carpets each summer, based on which carpets have the most wear and tear!
- Stayton High Boiler Maintenance: Replaced boiler tubes to ensure our students stay warm throughout the chilly winter months.
- Exterior Upkeep: Repainted parking lots, evaluated every district building for painting/caulking, and performed deep cleaning and floor polishing across all facilities.
