🐅 Meet our Executive Members 🐅
Name: Miranda Scott
Student: I have a daughter in second grade and another daughter in pre-k that will come to Ware next year.
Position: President
Years on PTA: I have been in the PTA since my daughter started at Ware three years ago. This is my second year on the PTA board.
College: I attended EMU for undergraduate nursing and attended Capella University for graduate degrees in nursing administration and education.
Favorite Holiday: July 4th. I love everything about the summer, warm weather, and water. We typically spend 2 weeks over the 4th on the Gulf Coast of Florida and nothing beats beach days, burgers, and Fireworks over the Gulf!
Somewhere Really Cool You’ve Traveled: One of my favorite trips was O’ahu. We stayed in Waikiki, but toured the entire island. We watched surfers on the North Shore, swam with sea turtles on Laniakea Beach, hiked Diamond Head, explored the Dole Plantation, and visited Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial. If you get a chance to visit the Hawaiian Islands you can’t go wrong with O’ahu!
Favorite Local Place to Eat: Chop House Tavern
Favorite Family Activity: We thrive in the summertime and warm weather. We love spending time together at the beach, pool, and pretty much any water activities. We survive the cooler weather by visiting indoor water parks. Great Wolf Lodge is my kids’ favorite!
Fun Fact: I’ve worked over half my life in emergency and/or critical care medicine and I still love watching and reading medical dramas even though I find the inaccuracies in them appalling.
Why did you join the PTA: I joined the PTA to help support my child and her school. A lot of people don’t realize that the PTA’s main role is advocacy. It is so important for parents to help advocate for and support our schools as they are continuously being expected to do more with less. The PTA is also a great way to get involved in the school community and build connections. Children benefit from having parents actively involved in
their school.
