The Macoupin Art Collective was founded by professional artist and educator, Brandace Cloud. Brandace worked as a ceramic artist and art teacher for years, but always dreamed of opening her own art center to provide a communal space and education opportunities for fellow artists and dreamers. With a lot of help from friends and family, she made that dream a reality. A generous investor helped her
removate the old Bishop Motors building Staunton, IL, for use from 2017-2019. Then the option to purchase the old Mancell Music building just one block away became available. Brandace and her construction crew turned the building into workspace and gallery. The back apartment will soon be expanded private space, and the dream of an art garden is well underway. Now, we at The MAC hope to create a safe and welcoming space for members of the surrounding communities in Macoupin County, to provide art education through workshops and community outreach, and to help anyone with a creative desire make their own dreams a reality.
