This crew works fast when it’s harvest time on a hot afternoon! Our Community Supported Agriculture boxes feature carrots from The Market Garden, corn from Correll Farm and our first tomatoes of the season.

YMCA SUMMER CAMP FUN!
06/19/2026
Summertime is here and the Statesville YMCA wants to help you make it the best summer ever in the pool!
Swim lessons are happening now. We have private lessons and group lessons for children and adults. Sign up online or call the Y today to perfect your skills🏊
Teen campers were in the kitchen this week with our summer intern, Mary Mac Goforth! We enjoyed roasted potatoes with herbs straight from the Y garden. We reviewed kitchen safety, chopping skills and menu planning! Then enjoyed tasting a special bread pudding recipe made by one of our campers, Jameson.
“Team work makes the dream work!” The garden crew harvested 30.8 pounds of potatoes from the Y garden and packed our first CSA boxes of the season with beets, cabbage, broccoli, lavender and more. “Big up” to the partners that help us make a positive impact in our community with box contributions:
David and Cheryl at Correll Farm, Logan and Jordan at The Market Garden, Danielle and Tom at Comet Berry Farm, Michael and Whitney at Huggins Homestead, Michelle at Big Holly Lavender Farm

Our summer campers are preventing summer learning loss by combining reading with hands on math skills! This improves number visualization and boosts academic confidence by turning abstract numbers into meaningful, real-world stories.
