We’d like to introduce you to Dwa, an amazing 13-year-old who knows firsthand what it’s like to live with sickle cell disease.
During treatments, sickle cell patients can become very cold and uncomfortable. Dwa has decided she wants to do something about that—not just for herself, but for other people going through treatment, too.
She is starting a nonprofit with a simple but meaningful mission: to provide warm gloves, scarves, and beanies to sickle cell patients while they receive treatment.
It’s pretty incredible that at just 13 years old, Dwa is taking her own experience and turning it into a way to comfort and care for others.
