The Honors College at Georgia Southern University is a place where students can challenge themselves as they pursue their intellectual and creative interests. The program is designed to foster a critical sense of inquiry, a spirit of creativity, a global perspective, and an ethic of civic responsibility. All Honors College students engage in undergraduate research projects and take advantage of experiential learning and service-learning opportunities. We prepare students to develop effective and thorough solutions to our most pressing problems. Having a global perspective and civic responsibility are not luxuries. Our leaders, today and tomorrow, need those qualities, and the Honors College at Georgia Southern University is designed to develop in our students the skills and abilities to help change our world.

The Fall 2026–Spring 2027 mentorship season is officially underway in Statesboro! With over 100 first-year mentees and upperclassmen mentors across both campuses, this is our biggest Honors College Peer Mentor Program (HCPMP) cohort yet. Matches in Statesboro raced across campus, solving clues and conquering creative challenges acing "HONS 1138: Honors Ping Pong" along the way. Competition was tough, but the connections made between mentee and mentor were even stronger.

Ready, set, mentor! The Honors College Peer Mentorship Program (HCPMP) officially kicked off in Savannah! Mentees and mentors teamed up for an "Amazing Race" style challenge across campus, through the rain. They navigated tasks that any college student might complete in their day to day such as visiting mock professor office hours, and even completing their group projects for "HONS 1137: Honors Origami." We love seeing our Armstrong-campus community come together. Here’s to a great year ahead!

Making downtown Savannah our classroom! The Honors Savannah Scholars immersed themselves in the city for an all-day orientation:

· Morning walkabouts across the historic district in small groups

· Lunch at The Pirates’ House with Dr. Belzer, Dr. White, & Sami

· Afternoon museum visits to the Jepson Center & Telfair Academy

· An guided tour of the Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters to close out the day

Honors Alumni and Friends, We’d Love to See You!

Join us for the Georgia Southern Honors College Professional Development Mini-Conference. Share your experiences, connect with current Honors students, and build new professional connections.
Date: Friday, September 18, 2026
Time: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Location: Russell Union, Statesboro Campus

Registration Fee: $15 When you RSVP for this event, you are supporting honors students. $5 of your ticket will support the Honors College fund, making it possible for our current honors students to attend for free. That gift will also count as a donation to the Excellence is a Habit fundraising campaign.
