Our team of David Weindorf, Ph.D., Will Lynch, Ph.D., Stephen Greiman, Ph.D., and Tyler Cyronak, Ph.D., has been busy building partnerships in Belize! We visited the Central Farm Facility outside the city of Belmopan where the University of Belize (UB) conducts agricultural outreach and research to support the country’s farmers. Director Maximiliano Ortego Jr. showed us their work on sustainable sugarcane production, biochar and composting.
We took a turn sharing our own research when Dr. Greiman gave the keynote address and Dr. Weindorf presented on collaborative research at the Annual Science Symposium hosted by UB. With both of our universities positioned along the Atlantic Ocean, we share a commitment to building coastal resiliency and a bright future for our regions.
We also met two future Georgia Southern doctoral students! Jocelyn Zavala will enroll in our environmental science Ph.D. program while Amaya Tzib will enter the materials science Ph.D. program. Both are UB graduates who will become Georgia Southern Eagles in August!
