Dr. Nandi Marshall spent the past several days in Cape Town, South Africa, participating in the 18th World Congress of Public Health, and spoke during the closing ceremony.

📕 All month long: Visit the Henderson Library to explore an exhibit tracing Statesboro’s recovery community back to the 1950s through photographs, journals and more.

Congratulations to JPHCOPH alumna Dr. Kimblery Scott who has recently named the Director of Public Health for Mecklenburg County in North Carolina! We’re so proud to see our grads leading the way in advancing public health and serving communities.

Dr. Kimberly Scott ('09) has recently been named the Director of Public health for Mecklenburg County in North Carolina! In this role, she will be responsible for managing all public and environmental health activities across the county. 👥🌿

Dr. Scott earned her Master of Public Health from the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at Georgia Southern University in 2009. "I was fortunate to learn from top-tier faculty and staff who genuinely nurtured my growth, supported my goals and helped prepare me for a meaningful career in public health."

As she begins this new chapter as the Public Health Director, Scott says she carries the knowledge, relationships and spirit of service that Georgia Southern instilled in her. 🤝

"I am deeply grateful for my phenomenal experience and proud to say that it is always an honor to be an Eagle!" 🦅

Congratulations to JPHCOPH assistant professor Ana M. Palacios, Ph.D., on her recent research examining pork consumption, weight loss and diet quality.

The six-month study found that pork can be included as part of a healthy approach to losing weight without compromising diet quality. 🥓 ⚖️

During National Breastfeeding Month, we're highlighting a new Georgia Southern study that shows how breastfeeding's impact may extend well beyond infancy.

The study, led by faculty at the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health, found a link between breastfeeding initiation rates and COVID-19 outcomes across Georgia, offering insight into broader factors that may shape health outcomes.
