5. Never quit mindset: you never think about quitting when you think about winning
6. When going through a really tough time in your life: Just keep moving

This applies to being a CEO or business manager, parenting, sports coaching, teaching in a classroom, and law-enforcement or military leadership.

The 3 Biggest Reasons Leaders Fail:
1. Majoring in minor things.
2. Being too nice.
3. Not thinking big enough.

1. Majoring in minor things.

Too complicated
Too many priorities

Book Recommendations
-Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy
-One Thing by Gary Keller
-Essentialism by Greg McKeown

“If you don’t guard your time, greatness will disappear.”
-Daniel Ek, founder of Spotify

2. Being too nice.

Avoiding difficult conversations

“A person’s success in life can visually be measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations he/she is willing to have.” -Tim Ferriss

3. Not thinking big enough.

Tiny goals that don’t get anyone excited
Not learning to think like the greats so you and your people can achieve the greatest things

1. Think (Proven Mental Models)

1. “Sky is the limit.” — The Notorious B.I.G., “Sky Is The Limit”
CEO Lesson: Your internal ceiling becomes your company’s external ceiling.

2. “I’m on one.”
— DJ Khaled ft. Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne, “I’m On One”
CEO Lesson: Pick one priority. Dominate it. Scattered focus is strategic su***de. You must relentlessly identify the most important priorities and tasks that get your organization to its most important goal.

3. “Even when I was close to defeat, I rose to my feet” Dr. Dre, “Still D.R.E.”
CEO Lesson:
1. Expect the public stumble.
• Product flop
• Missed earnings
• Key executive leaves
• PR crisis
2. Your response becomes your legacy. Boards and markets don’t judge failure —they judge recovery speed.

4. “I never sleep, ’cause sleep is the cousin of death” - Nas, “N.Y. State of Mind”
CEO Lesson: Stay vigilant. Complacency kills companies faster than competition. Continuous improvement. If you aren't disrupting yourself, your competitors will do it for you. Kaizen is a Japanese business philosophy that translates to 1% better than yesterday, small continuous improvement.

5. “Don’t let nobody tell you you can’t do something.”
— Eminem, “Not Afraid”
CEO Lesson: Vision must outpace consensus. You have to build castles in the sky, then take it out of the clouds and into the dirt with the exact right Daily and weekly actions.

6. “Difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week.”
— Jay-Z, “Diamonds From Sierra Leone (Remix)”
CEO Lesson: Raise your timeline expectations. Constraints are often mental. Parkinson’s law: a task takes the amount of time that we give it.

2. Lead

7. “It was all a dream.” — The Notorious B.I.G., “Juicy”
CEO Lesson: Every major company began as imagination. Vision precedes valuation.

8. “I will not lose.” — Jay-Z, “U Don’t Know”
CEO Lesson: Adopt refusal as a strategy. Resilience is a competitive moat.

9. “Put me anywhere on God’s green earth, I’ll triple my worth.” Jay-Z, “U Don’t Know”
CEO Lesson: Your Identity Is the Asset. Not the Environment.

10. “I’m not a businessman, I’m a business, man.” — Jay-Z, “Diamonds From Sierra Leone (Remix)”
CEO Lesson: You are the brand. Your reputation, judgment, and identity compound like equity.

11. "I'm the king of New York. The king of New York."
— The Notorious B.I.G., "Who Shot Ya?"
The CEO Lesson: Confidence is contagious. A CEO must project dominance to attract investors and talent.

12. “My presence is a present.” — Kanye West, “Monster”
CEO Lesson: Authority is projected. Executive presence shapes room dynamics before words do.

13. “Started from the bottom, now we here.” — Drake, “Started From The Bottom”
CEO Lesson: Own the climb. Scar tissue builds leadership credibility.

14. “Lose yourself in the music.” — Eminem, “Lose Yourself”
CEO Lesson: Total immersion creates mastery. Deep work wins markets.

15. “All Eyez on Me.”
—2Pac, “All Eyez on Me”
CEO Lesson: Leadership means scrutiny. Live by example. Your people don’t do what you say, they do what they see. Own the spotlight.

3. Sell

16. “Cash rules everything around me.” — Wu-Tang Clan, “C.R.E.A.M.”
CEO Lesson: Know your numbers. Cash flow discipline determines survival. Prioritize sales. All businesses go out of business for the same reason: they run out of cash.

17. “Know yourself, know your worth.”
— Drake, “0 to 100 / The Catch Up”
CEO Lesson: Price based on value, not insecurity.

18. "I didn't choose the thug life, the thug life chose me."
— Mobb Deep, "Shook Ones Pt. II"
CEO Lesson: Selling must come natural to you. If it doesn’t, you’ll never be successful as CEO and should let someone else who can think, lead, and sell do it.

19. "I move fast like a cheetah on the Serengeti."
— DMX, "Ruff Ryders' Anthem"
CEO Lesson: In the modern market, speed of ex*****on is a competitive advantage. Don't wait for perfection; move.

20. "I'm a hustler, baby; I sell ice to Eskimos." – JAY-Z “U Don't Know”
CEO Lesson: Master the art of the pitch. Understanding your customer’s psychology is the key to selling value.

21. “Get rich or die tryin’.”
— 50 Cent, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’”
CEO Lesson: Clarity of mission eliminates distraction. Keep the main thing the main thing: sales.

Bonus lesson:

“All I Do Is Win.”
— DJ Khaled, “All I Do Is Win”

Hip-Hop Lesson for CEOs: Build a Culture Where Winning Is the Default.

This line isn’t about arrogance. It’s about identity.

Winning isn’t an event. It’s a system.

Khaled doesn’t even rap the verses — he assembles the right talent, sets the tone, creates the energy, and makes sure the record hits. That’s CEO energy. He’s the orchestrator.

For a CEO, “All I do is win” means:
• You hire A-players.
• You set standards publicly.
• You celebrate wins loudly.
• You eliminate excuses quietly.
• You build repeatable processes that stack victories.

Winning once is luck.
Winning repeatedly is culture.

Best people!

At Starway, being family-owned is not just a label. It shapes how we do business every day.

Trust matters to us. That means showing up when we say we will, communicating honestly, and taking responsibility for our work. We treat people with respect because that is how we would want our own family treated.

And yes, it might sound cliché to say “we treat people like family,” but we genuinely mean it. The people we work with, whether customers, partners, or team members, are not just transactions to us. You’re treated with care, respect, and honesty.

Because we are rooted here, giving back matters too. We’ve been taken care of by this community, so we try to take care of it too. Whether it is supporting local students through our backpack drive or providing free roofs for local veterans, it’s how we try to show our appreciation.

Centre County is home for us. We live here, we raise our families here, and our reputation matters here. That is why earning trust will always come first.

That is what Built on Trust means to us.

The Five Laws of OVER-Communication™️: How the Most Effective Leaders Get Things Done—Masterclass 02/08/2026

The Five Laws of OVER-Communication™️: How the World’s Most Effective Leaders Actually Get Things Done

The Five Laws of OVER-Communication™

1. The Law of 90/10: Listen 90% of the time, talk 10%. You already know what you know, you need to know what THEY know. Additionally, the more you ramble on, the less respect you get.

2. The Law of The Standard: Tell the truth today; never walk by greatness or mediocrity without saying something. If you see something, say something. Always let people know where they stand…for good and for bad. Catch people doing things right and challenge them to be better.

3. The Law of Simplicity: Simple is remembered and acted upon. Complex isn’t.

4. The Law of Self-Conviction: Conviction commands attention. Conviction cuts through the noise. Where conviction exists, attention follows. Hesitation is ignored…conviction is followed.

5. The Law of Seven: When you get sick of saying something and they get sick of hearing something…that’s when it starts to sink in. A message needs to be repeated a minimum of seven times before it sinks in.
