Hi friends, I hope you all had a wonderful summer!

After much consideration over the summer, I have, with a heavy heart, decided that I will not be continuing teaching my class this fall.

I loved every moment spent teaching our Little Learners in May. Every bit of it brought me so much joy; the planning, teaching, watching their little lightbulbs go off as they recalled information, the singing and silly moments, and so much more. They were so cute and such wonderful students to have!

For those who joined my class, those who inquired about starting this fall, and anyone else who had interest, I thank all of you and apologize for any impact this decision may have caused.

I do hope we run into one another sometime this school year and I hope your little learners continue to love learning! ❤️

Also, here’s a link to the alphabet book I started in the class, for anyone interested in completing one.

Here are some of the Home Activities from my lists I’ve sent home. My kids really enjoyed doing them and so did I!

If you’ve done any as well, I’d love to see pics and hear how they went!

We had a great last class before summer! We reviewed all our old material using books, songs, and a dice activity. They learned about squares, the letter Mm, the number 4, and the Monkeys Swinging in a Tree song for the new letter.

They glued money for the letter Mm collage, painted shapes and number amounts, did play dough stamp review, did unifix cubes for fine motor skills, and practiced their name with my new buttons and their name bus. Last, they have me painted hand prints on one of my teacher shirts so I can always remember my original Little Learners!

I really enjoy setting up these review chalk courses each week. The kids do them with me on the way into class!

We had another great class this week! We reviewed old material using books, songs and a mystery bag. Then we discussed and practiced new material with books, songs, making body shapes, and crafts.

This week we worked on the letter Nn, number 3, triangles, and continued working on their name spelling.

What class looks like before the Little Learners arrive ❤️ It’s not always the same activities, but many are similiar and some are repeated if the kids love them or need more practice using them.

Class today was so much fun!

First, we reviewed the material from last week (Aa, Tt, circles, 0, 1), with a chalk course and books, including the songs for those letters (Way Up High In The Apple Tree & Tiny Tim).

We learned about letter S and how it looks like a snake and hisses like one too, and sang the Itsy Bitsy Spider for letter S. Then we completed another page for our alphabet collage books, it was glueing straws for the letter S. We also did circle painting with tp rolls, which was both fun and surprisingly not too messy!

I tried centers today, just two, and it went very well! I do love centers in general! I changed partners from last week and this time paired four year olds with three year olds. While one pair of students played in a sensory rice bin, fishing for letters with magnetic wands and matching those letters to corresponding baskets, the other pair of children were working with me.

For my center time, they worked on some of the harder puzzles and laminated activities that they struggled to do without help last week. It was helpful to see who is capable of what and to begin teaching them how to complete those trickier activities so they can one day do them independently!

Whilst waiting for friends to finish the straw gluing, I had finishers do a series of fine motor and matching, with shape puzzles, laminated activity sheets, and manipulatives. They loved them and I’m so happy I packed spare activities for this very reason!

The children were great listeners, hard workers, and seemed to enjoy themselves. It brings me so much joy teaching them!

Current parents-
Don’t forget the blue take home activity list I sent home this week. I tried to pick fun and relatively easy activities to further practice what we did in class. Doing these would be beneficial for your little one, since it’s hard for young learners to retain information when only hearing it once a week. It’ll also benefit the class in general because I’ll need less time spent on review and have more time to move forward with new concepts!
Lastly, your children will probably love you extra for spending this one on one learning time with them! When I did the chalk course at home the other day, my girls told me nearly two dozen times how much they loved it, how thankful they were for it, that they loved me “to Asia and Africa then back home”, and how I was the “best mom in the whole world!” 🥰

This is what my planning looks like- all spread out on my living room carpet! 😄

Also, I was so proud that I condensed materials and packed less this week… Until I loaded the car! It looks like I somehow am bringing MORE than last week! 🤣

Here’s the new student registration for those who wanted to sign up but saw they missed the ‘cut off’. I’m happy to add your little one to our class and have space open, so feel free to send me a message.

I highly reccomend trying this activity at home to review our lessons!

Wow, we had so much fun doing the chalk obstacle course this afternoon that I listed on the home practice sheet! Here are the photos. I will post a video clip of part of the course shortly!

I set it up so there’s a fun obstacle, then the ‘school work’ to review, followed by another fun obstacle, and so on. We actually do this a lot, as it’s one of their favorite ways to review. I highly reccomend! I even got a bit of a workout setting it up! 😅

A quick sample of my children practicing to read phonetically at home with a fun and interactive activity!

The newly 6 year old knows that the /u/ has four sounds for her to check through in order to read the word. Also that the /e/ at the end of the other word makes the first vowel be long and say it’s name.

The newly 4 year old knows that an /a/ makes a different sound when followed by an /m/ or /n/, you can hear her correct herself when reading that word. We talked about that in class last week!
