Unpack Shakespeare’s Characters and Texts – Speak What We Feel, Not What We Ought to Say – William Shakespeare, King Lear

Incorporating voice, movement, and imagination, we explore the emotions, physicality, and meaning of Shakespeare’s text. Develop acting skills for participants’ level of experience, learn storytelling of movement and stage combat, and perform for friends and family – after all, all the world’s a stage.

Calling all families with young ones! Come act, sing, dance, drum, paint, and play! From monsters to aliens, wizards to wild things, and other wacky characters, we'll stomp, sing, dance, read our way through books, stories and tales as we play with wings, scarves, puppets, and so much more! Ages infant to 5 and their families!

Creative Drama & Movement, Saturdays 10:45-11:15am. Classes start this Saturday, July 25.

Catch Jessica Karp as Prince Escalus delivering the swift hand of justice, albeit about 2 hrs too late to prevent the ultimate tragedy.

Jessica has appeared in numerous productions and staged readings around town. Some of her favorites include Voices (The Next Stage, 2019), Sin-ergy (Sock & Buskin, 2022), Last Summer at Bluefish Cove (Tempest Productions, 2022, staged reading), Doubt: A Parable (Tempest Productions, 2023, staged reading), Hamlet: Time is Out of Joint (Tempest Productions, 2024), and an adaptation of Twelfth Night with Tempest in 2025 where she got a chance to appear as the one and only Malvolio. She is very happy to be in this final production of Tempest’s 30 th season as a Prince.

I think Sam has been waiting to call us all fools for quite sometime. Meet Sam Birkenthal, aka Benvolio, one (if not the only) rational characters in Romeo & Juliet. Sam will tell you that that's true of his role in Tempest as well.

Sam Birkenthal has been involved in Central PA theatre high jinks since 2022. You may have spotted him performing back-to-back quick changes in Death of a Salesman, engaging in transvestite melodrama in Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead or gallivanting as Sebastian in Twelfth Night. Sam also dons a stage manager’s cap, keeping track of the aforementioned Salesman and Rosencrantz & Guildenstern, as well as productions of Much Ado About Nothing, Coriolanus, and As You Like It. He is always excited for the opportunity to become a ragdoll at the whims of the stage.

Welcome to our newest Tempest Player, Michael Manfred! Michael is our delightful, if not slightly misguided Friar, and hails to us from Altoona. Michael is an award-winning filmmaker and playwright, featured in the Golgonooza New Play Festival for two years in a row as both a writer and director.

You can catch Michael and the rest of the gang Thursday-Sunday, The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, Tempest Studios.
