Definitely a much needed reminder…
“All of those are excuses, most of them valid, that we cling to out of overwork. It just seems so much easier to not do something, to not have plans, to not try something new or find time to do something you used to love. But that’s your exhaustion speaking. When work devours your waking hours, it also devours your will to do things that truly nourish you. The reality is that we don’t prioritize these activities because—other than seeking ways to optimize ourselves as workers or desirable bodies—we don’t actually prioritize ourselves.”

Thanks FB for reminding me that today is 10 years since I started my business. My solopreneur journey has been filled with ups and downs, shifts and pivots, and tons of learning experiences. I have met so many amazing people along the way. And I’ve gotten to know myself in a way I never thought possible.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to do what I do each and every day and impact the lives of the people I am fortunate enough to serve through coaching. I’m looking forward to another incredible decade with lots of changes in the works.
If you want to check out what I do, you will find it all here: https://saracraig.co.
Now, back to work.

"Build in slack for important work. Humans are terrible at estimating how much time and effort are actually needed to accomplish things. It’s called the planning fallacy, and the busyness paradox only exacerbates that tendency to underestimate and overpromise. So one intervention being tested is for workers to intentionally create slack in their calendars every week — in other words, intentionally schedule a block of slack time to finish up any work that got delayed after an emergency popped up, or to finish a project that took longer than you thought it would."

"...if we see every mistake as a crisis, every failure as a sign we’re losers, then we avoid taking risks, we become less creative, we even learn less deeply.
But if we’re resilient enough to understand that mistakes are inevitable, that we often make them when we’re trying something that challenges us and that the learning process is (or should be) as important as the final achievement, then we’re far more open and able to accept them."

"There’s a popular saying that “you need money to make money,” but that isn’t always true.
This is bootstrapping, and regardless of what’s happening in the economy, it’s one of the best ways to start a new business, because it requires you to exercise and build the creativity, discipline, strategy, and resource management that will be integral to successfully running your company after you get it off the ground."

"Kintsugi is a centuries-old Japanese art of fixing cracked pottery. Rather than hide the cracks, the technique involves rejoining the broken pieces with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. When put back together, the whole piece of pottery looks beautiful as ever, even while owning its broken history.
Many people are wondering at this time in history whether we will have a second life. When put back together, will we recover with dignity and grace? The science suggests that not only will we recover, but we will demonstrate the immense human capacity for resiliency and growth."

"Far more than a hobby, and far more than exercise and fresh air, gardening has emerged for me as a time of creativity and fresh perspective just as much as it is a time of solace and reflection."
3 Ways Gardening Improves Your Performance
Many gardeners begin with a desire for fresh air, exercise, and maybe an accent of flowers or herbs on their dining room table. Some founders, however, harvest inspiration from the garden for their entrepreneurial journey.
