Divine intervention.

Whether you believe in divine intervention, miracles, or just being in the right place at the right time - this story is for you.

Today, a group of teenagers from a school in Crestview took a trip to visit beautiful Morrison
Springs in Ponce de Leon.

The water was clear and the springs beckoned. But, quickly, things took a panicked turn when a 14-year-old started to go under the water. It was clear he was in trouble as his mother called out for help.

On this day, it just so happens that two members of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office dive unit were training at the springs.

Daniel Eddy, an investigator for our Criminal Investigations Bureau, had just made his way to shore to add more gear because of the water temperature when he heard the mother’s plea for help.

He and Deputy Craig Yost, a member of our Beach/Marine Unit, jumped into action quickly reaching the teen and bringing him safety to the small beach nearby.

After swallowing a good bit of water, the lethargic and exhausted juvenile was checked out on scene. His mom, relieved and thankful.

We don’t believe in coincidences. There is a reason Daniel Eddy and Craig Yost were there today. Fate? It’s a possibility. But, maybe it’s just that we love happy endings.

Have a great weekend everyone. We are here if you need us.

🤿 Divers! Have you noticed a surge in the prices of dive trips? Here’s why and what you can do. 👇

A brand-new liability requirement imposed on small dive, snorkel, and tour boat operators by Congress has resulted in dramatically higher fees for mandatory insurance coverage.

❗❗ Naturally, in order to sustain their businesses, operators are being forced to pass these increases to customers—divers, just like you—resulting in significantly more expensive dive travel prices.

The DIVE BOAT Act proposes a solution that would help ensure vessels that are operating safely are not burdened with unnecessary insurance hikes, thus maintaining reasonable, affordable prices on dive travel.

Click the link below to support the DIVE BOAT Act and encourage your representatives to do the same. Help us keep dive trips safe & affordable!
