Well-deserved national recognition for SOCSD! πŸ’›πŸ–€

Nationwide EXCELLENCE... Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District has been recognized as one of the nation's Top 100 "Districts on the Rise" by the Education Scorecard, a collaborative research project produced jointly by the Center for Education Policy Research (CEPR) at Harvard University and the Educational Opportunity Project (EOP) at Stanford University. SOCSD is the only district in Mississippi to be included in the 2026 list of Top 100. The list highlights districts whose students are improving faster than their peers in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Math.

"We are honored to be recognized in this list of the Top 100 school districts for improving achievement," said SOCSD Superintendent, Dr. Tony McGee. "It lets us know we're putting our efforts in the right places, and we're getting results in academic performance. Beyond that, it shows us what we already see every day – our boys and girls are growing."

It's an A-RATED RepeAt!! 🐝🐝 Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District has earned an A-rating from the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) for the second year in a row based on state test scores from the 2024-2025 Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP). The letter grade is based, in part, on the number of students who achieved proficiency and/or growth on the state's assessment of English/Language Arts, Math and Science for 3rd-8th grade students, as well as graduation rate, college and career readiness, high school end-of-course exams and other factors. MAAP scores from the 2024-2025 assessments resulted in an overall increase in the district's numbers to solidify the A-rating.

We are also proud to announce that Sudduth Elementary, Overstreet Elementary and Starkville High School have each earned an A school rating -- Sudduth and SHS for the very first time!

"Doing something back to back is sometimes tougher than doing it the first time," said SOCSD Superintendent, Dr. Tony McGee. "This rating not only shows the dedication and hard work of our students, staff and families, but also lets us know that we're on the right track with putting consistent strategies in place that will help our students succeed year after year. I am so proud of the Jacket Family in continuing our efforts as a high performing school district."

Way to go, Jackets!!
