📣 Evergreen Boys & Girls State is coming June 20–26, 2027!

High school juniors from across Washington are invited to take part in an unforgettable week of leadership, civic education, friendship, and hands-on experience in how state and local government work.

At Evergreen Boys & Girls State, delegates will:
✅ Build leadership and communication skills
✅ Meet other motivated students from around the state
✅ Learn how elections, government, courts, and public service function
✅ Run for office, debate issues, create communities, and make real decisions
✅ Gain experiences that can strengthen future scholarship, college, and career applications

The 2027 session will be held at Warm Beach Conference Center in Stanwood, Washington, from June 20–26, 2027.

This opportunity is open to ALL current high school juniors. Whether you are already involved in student leadership or simply want to learn, grow, and challenge yourself, Evergreen Boys & Girls State is a place to discover what you can do.

🇺🇸 Registration is OPEN for Evergreen Boys & Girls State 2027! 🇺🇸

Calling all Washington high school juniors! Evergreen Boys & Girls State (EBGS) is a week-long civic leadership program where you'll build your own mock city and state government, run for office, debate real issues, and learn how democracy actually works, hands-on.

📅 When: June 20–26, 2027
📍 Where: Stanwood, WA
🎓 Who: ALL current high school juniors (class of 2028)

This is a resume-building, confidence-building, life-changing week. Past delegates have gone on to run for real office, work in government, and lead in their communities.

Educators & Parents: Help us spread the word! This program is one of the best leadership opportunities a junior can have before senior year.

🏍️ Throwback Thursday

Whatcom County Judge Steve Mura rode his motorcycle to Evergreen Boys State most years, but one entrance became legendary.

While preparing to speak to delegates about the court system, Judge Mura decided a normal walk to the front of the room just would not do. Wearing a judge’s robe, he rode his motorcycle through a side door and straight to the front of the audience while “Here Come Da Judge” played.

The delegates were impressed.

The venue owner? Not quite so enthusiastic.

It was definitely one courtroom lesson no one forgot!

The 2027 Assigned Topics are now posted on the website, so students in grades 9–12 can begin researching and preparing their speeches now.

🌲 Meet June the Juniper!

The City of Juniper added a little extra fun to Evergreen Boys & Girls State by adopting June the Juniper as its official mascot for the week.

June joined the city’s delegates at meetings, activities, meals, and special events, becoming part of the team and helping capture the friendships and memories that make EBGS such a special experience.

At the end of the week, June stayed behind at Warm Beach Conference Center. She has now been planted in front of Cedar Lodge, where she is growing strong and waiting for us to return next year.

Government may be serious business, but there is always room for creativity, teamwork, lasting memories, and a great city mascot!
