Apply now for our 2027 Workshop Assistantships and Artist Assistantships! Applications are due October 30 at 11:59 p.m. PST. 🗓️ 

Assistantships are an excellent opportunity for emerging or established artists, or anyone with previous glass experience, to work directly with Guest Artists or Artists in Residence and gain valuable experience. 

🔥 Workshop Assistants support the Guest Artist’s creative vision for their workshop while providing guidance and encouragement to students. While it is helpful, Workshop Assistants do not need to have prior experience at Pilchuck. They are required, however, to have experience in the techniques covered in the workshop they choose to apply for. 

🔥 Artist Assistants are a crucial part of our Artist in Residence Program, where professional artists specializing in non-glass mediums are invited to a residency at Pilchuck to explore the creative possibilities of glass. Artist Assistants are required to have prior Pilchuck experience and at least 5 years of experience in glass with a wide vocabulary of techniques.

🌈 Introduction to Stained Glass with Korina Oswald

🏆I Saw the Sign: Reverse Gilding & Sign Painting with Morgan Peterson

⏰ 10 am – 4 pm
 
These workshops are designed for absolute beginners and those seeking to build on previous workshops. All are welcome!

Next summer will be packed with exciting glassblowing workshops taught by dozens of talented Guest Artists from all over the world, including some returning Pilchuck legends. We have offerings for complete beginners and advanced glassblowers alike. Browse our 2027 offerings here and on our website at pilchuck.org or the link in our bio. 🔗

Some images from this year’s Pilchuck x Berlin Glas. E.V. international exchange, sponsored by Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung!  

As part of this new and exciting cultural exchange, during Session 1 this year, Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung sponsored Berlin-based artist Alan Horsley to visit Pilchuck and teach his kiln-forming and kiln-casting workshop, “Translating Form.”  

This month, local artist Dan Friday was also sponsored by Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung to travel to Germany for a residency and to lead “Cane Making & Roll-Ups: Building Personal Language in Hot Glass” at Berlin Glass.  

We are so grateful to Alexander Tutsek-Stiftung and Berlin Glass for making this exchange possible! This program is just one example of how Pilchuck continues to be an international campus and a place for cultural and creative exchange.
