We sat down with Jason Phelps of phelpsgamecalls to talk about one of the most important and most debated parts of bowhunting elk: where to put the arrow.

Angle, distance, quartering, vitals, and
knowing when to send it vs hold off.

What’s your go to shot placement on an elk?

I recently saw a video from James Nash showing that referencing the hump right above an animal’s shoulders on top of their back for left/right, is a great way to aim for vitals.
