I know it's a week late, but we want to brag on this young lady one last time. Leadership and dedication know no bounds. Kaycee Jefferson has been dedicated to our chapter from beginning to end. Her final act was to work with her family to travel to Houston last week so she could not only walk the stage to receive her Lonestar Degree, but also make sure Stanton FFA was still represented at the biggest State FFA Convention in the country! Shoutout to her mom for making this possible! She has already asked me how to get her American Degree. If she receives this, she will get to attend the National FFA Convention in October! We are so proud of her and look forward to helping her achieve this goal!

The last few days have been a blast with the Stanton High School FFA Officers! After the hurricane passed through Houston, we decided it was best for the safety of our students to cancel our trip to State Convention. However, these young leaders refused to let the week go to waste! Tuesday we traveled to Stephenville for a week of officer team building and bonding. We played mini golf that evening and enjoyed some friendly (definitely not competitive) games of uno. Wednesday we were up bright and early, got Starbucks for an energy boost, and embarked on a trip to Glen Rose, TX. We visited the Dinosaur Valley State Park in the morning where we waded through the Paluxy River in search of Dinosaur tracks. Someone (Brayden Bryan...) lost their footing and fell into the river... look for the before and after pictures below. After our search of tracks came to an end, they swam in the deep parts of the river. Shoutout to the park for giving us free admission! After lunch we drove through the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. This place is essentially a drive through zoo, and the kids had a blast! Today we wrapped up the trip with more Starbucks, bowling, and a long drive home. Overall fun was had by everyone and we couldn't be more excited to kick off the new year in just a few short weeks!

Last week, 7 of our FFA members attended the Area II Convention in San Angelo. Here's a quick rundown of everything they did.

They all served as voting delegates for talent teams, area, and state officers.

Brayden Bryan interviewed for Star Greenhand with her Sheep Production project. Unfortunately she did not advance to state but we are proud of the hard work she put forth this year.

Reid Turney did his first duty as District Treasurer and served on the Courtest Corp.

We received our 1st place banner for Tractor Tech.

And the most exciting news, we officially received word today that Kallie O'Neal and Kaycee Jefferson advanced to the state check for their Lonestar Degree!! If they pass at the state level, they will get to walk the stage at state convention in July, and will be the first Stanton FFA members to receive this degree since 2019!! We are super proud and thankful for the 4 years of service they have provided to our chapter!

We had a very successful evening at the El Rancho District Banquet. 11 Stanton High School students traveled to Greenwood to obtain our contest banners from the past year, elect a new disrict officer team, 2 area officer candidates, and a talent representative for our district. We are proud to announce that Stanton FFA brought home 7 banners from district level competition! Additional awards/accolades are as follows:

Rylee Shelton, Kaycee Jefferson, and Kallie O'Neal advanced to the next level in the hopes of being awarded their Lonestar FFA Degree.

Brayden Bryan advanced to Area with her Star Greenhand Application.

And the most exciting news of the night, Reid Turney was elected to serve as the El Rancho District Treasurer for the 2024-2025 school year!!

Thank you to everyone who has supported these students throughout their FFA journey. Please join us Tuesday May 7 at 6:30 in the high school commons for the annual Stanton FFA Chapter Banquet where our banners and our students will be on display for you to see! Everyone is invited!!

Super proud of these young men for the hard work they have put in since November! Unfortunately, we did not advance to the next round. There are some tough competitors that had a better day than we did. After going back through the components portion and discussing potential scores, they are fired up for their senior year. Our goal is to hit the green shavings running next year! I would like to extend a special thank you to Jeremy Louder for helping the boys with their debugging skills and donating a brand new toolbox full of tools! We appreciate his support more than he will ever know!

The Stanton High School Tractor Tech team has arrived in Houston and is ready to tackle the state contest! Good luck to Aiden Louder, Jonathan Sirois, and Reid Turney on part 1 of the contest tomorrow. They, along with 35 other teams from across Texas, will take an exam over tractor operations and inspect 20 tractor components based on given scenarios. If they place in the top 10 they will move on to part 2, debugging a tractor, on Monday morning. We'll keep you posted!

Today we hosted our first BBQ contest! A big thank you to Tall City Meats for donating all the meat for our contest! We also could not have done it without all the community members, teachers, parents, and FFA Officer who showed up to help in one way or another! Thank you so much to everyone who helped!

Our teams worked hard all day despite the cold weather! I love seeing the progress each team has made and I can’t wait to see how they improve before we head to the State Contest in May! A special thank you to our fire masters Lizzy and Jocelyn the girls kept the pits buzzing at an even temperature despite the cold weather!
