It's Dolly Day - September 25th - 9-2-5
Support the Montcalm Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.
This is the perfect day to make a donation to your local Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Donations for the local Dolly Parton Imagination Library can be made payable to MAISD - DPIL and sent to Mindy Train at Montcalm Transition Center, located at 618 W. Main St., Suite C, Stanton, MI 48888. There is also an endowment with the Greenville Area Community Foundation. You can make donations there at www.gacfmi.org under the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

In 1995, Dolly Parton started mailing books to children in her home county to inspire children to love reading in honor of her dad, who couldn’t read or write.

That idea lives here too. Every month, 1,375 children in Montcalm County find a book in the mailbox — because of neighbors who fund it, volunteers who run it, and a woman from Sevier County, TN, who started it all.

Thank you, Dolly. We will always love you.

Montcalm Area ISD deeply believes in the value of early childhood education and the initiatives that support building a strong foundation for our youngest learners. The funding for the Great Start Collaborative and Great Start Montcalm County, known as section 32p, has been eliminated by the State of Michigan in its budget for 2025-2026. This funding supports early childhood initatives throughout Michigan as well as right here in Montcalm County. Without this funding, the result means the elimination of these programs. We are sharing a letter from MAISD Superintendent Katie Flynn and MAISD Associate Superintendent of Early Childhood Services Cari O'Connor. If you are moved to support the work of Great Start Collaboratives, we have provided contact information for Montcalm County legislators in the comment section.

Head Start funding is currently at risk of being eliminated. This would be devastating for thousands of Michigan children and families. Please share your voices and tell Congress to protect Head Start! Visit https://nhsa.org/take-action/
