Dear CCS Families,
Due to significant traffic impacts expected in Gastonia tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16, related to the President’s visit, Community Charter will dismiss students early.
We are making this decision out of an abundance of caution and to help our families navigate anticipated road closures, traffic restrictions, detours, and increased traffic throughout the area. We have been working collaboratively with other schools, local law enforcement officers, and area police departments to make this decision.
Traffic conditions and closures may change throughout the event. Gastonia Police are advising those who live, work, or travel in this area to avoid southeast Gastonia between 2:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. if possible. Some roads will be closing around 10:00 a.m. If you must travel through the area, please allow extra time, expect delays, follow posted detours, and follow the directions of officers working traffic control.
