The first day of the 10th annual Mountrail County Home & Garden Show is taking place on Friday! Come on out and enjoy! There is something for the whole family!

Two educational workshops are taking place Friday!

Hooked on Herbs:
In this fun hands on program we will explore fresh herbs, different blends and how to care for them. From garden favorites to savory seafood blends, you'll leave inspired to bring in a bold new flavor to your home. Participants will make their own seafood blend perfect for the lake house.

Pest or Pollinator:
"What's eating my Broccoli???"
"Is this Friend or Foe?"
"What's is this tiny dinosaur?"
"How do I kill this bug?"

These questions and more will be answered in this Pest or Pollinator Workshop. We'll identify some of our common beneficial insects and insect pests, and learn how to protect pollinators along the way.

I mean, look at this guy...isn't his face adorable?!? (see comments)

It's a new school year. Start the year off right with healthful choices.

Getting kids to eat fruits and vegetables can be difficult... But important! Vegetables are important sources of many nutrients, including potassium, dietary fiber, folate (folic acid), vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin C. Fruits contain nutrients, such as potassium, dietary fiber, vitamin C and folate (folic acid).
Here are some ideas to get fruits and veggies in the diet:
- Encourage children to help choose fruits and vegetables at the grocery store.
- Add shredded carrots to pasta sauce, lasagna or meatloaf.
- Add extra vegetables to casseroles and soups.
- Have a bowl of fruit, such as apples or bananas, on the countertop.
