The John W. Gardner Center for Youth & Their Communities The John W. Based in the Stanford Graduate School of Education, we partner with communities, researchers, and practitioners to produce evidence-based research.

Gardner Center for Youth and Their Communities at Stanford University partners with communities to develop leadership, conduct research and effect change to improve the lives of youth. Our aim is to improve and strengthen the well-being of youth, inform policy and practice in the fields of education and youth development, and emphasize the importance of equity and capacity-building in youth-servin

g organizations. Named for the prolific thinker, innovator and activist John W. Gardner, the Gardner Center was founded in 2001 by Milbrey McLaughlin, the David Jacks Professor of Education and Public Policy (emerita).
